Usage

Use the Overwatch panel to watch players, review telemetry, and manage staff users.

Staff panel

Open the browser panel:

http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:3848

Log in with the built-in user from server.cfg, or with a staff user created by the admin account.

Views

Overwatch includes three main panel views:

ViewPurpose
SplitPlayer list, active streams, and map together
StreamsFocused live stream view
HeatmapLive map view of online players

The player list can be searched by server ID, character name, or session name.

Watching players

  1. Select a stream quality: low, medium, high, or ultra.
  2. Find a player in Players In City.
  3. Click Watch.
  4. Use Mute / Unmute for stream audio when available.
  5. Click Stop to end the watch session.

Watching a player enables temporary telemetry for that player. When all viewers stop watching them, telemetry is disabled again.

Player telemetry

The panel can show:

  • Server ID and session name
  • Framework character name when available
  • Ping
  • Speaking state
  • Nearby heard players
  • Street name
  • Vehicle state and speed
  • Map position and heading
  • Current viewer count

Stream limits

Overwatch enforces two limits:

LimitConfig
Max streams per staff userStaff user setting, capped by overwatch_max_streams
Max viewers per playeroverwatch_max_viewers_per_target

If either limit is reached, the panel shows an error and the new watch session is not started.

Admin users

The admin username set by overwatch_admin_username can open Manage Users.

To create a staff account:

  1. Log in as the admin account.
  2. Click Manage Users.
  3. Enter the new staff username.
  4. Enter the staff password.
  5. Set Max streams for that staff account.
  6. Click Create User.

From the same menu, the admin can:

  • View current panel users
  • Create staff users
  • Set each user's max stream count
  • Delete file-based staff users
  • View watch logs when logging is enabled

Created staff users are saved in data/users.json. Their passwords are stored as hashes.

With the default overwatch_admin_local_only "true", this admin account must be used from the VPS itself at http://127.0.0.1:3848.

Login protection

After too many failed login attempts, the connecting IP is saved to:

data/blocked_ips.json

Remove an entry from that file if you need to unblock an IP, then restart the resource.
